A Lesson About Colloquialism.

Oh come on. What do I know? It's not our major subject, isn't it? But still, I wanna learn about the English language more.  And so I am thankful (Nah, hehe. Yep, tunay.) and grateful that my sister has asked me to help her for the hard copy of her report regarding (no need to ask.) Colloquialism. No choice naman ako eh. Haha. Pero gusto ko rin naman kasing matuto pa kasi makakatulong din naman sa'kin 'to for sure. So eto nga, type type type.

Colloquial means conversational, used in speaking. Since the speech of people varies with their education, work, and social status, there are obviously many different types of colloquial English, from rather bookish speech of some professors and others through the “cultivated colloquial” of fairly well educated persons, to the “low colloquial” of the majority of everyday people, which makes up the vulgate level of English. The bulk of conversation is informal, and consequently colloquial suggests information rather than formal English. Dictionaries often display colloquial words and phrases with the abbreviation colloq. Colloquialisms are often used primarily within a limited geographical area. (that's according to the book.)
Hmmm.. so why the hell am I writing about this?? Wala lang, bakit ba. Hehe Joke. :D I just came up to a realization that we must choose our words when speaking. I'm not saying that we must be always formal or some sorts, o kaya maging balahura nalang EVER. :)) It's just that we must be able to grasp with the ideas of the people we are talking to. Be able to express ourselves more, not sounding bad, dumb and horrible. Ayun naman eh, dami pang sinabi, babagsak din pala sa palasak na kasabihang BE YOURSELF. :) Hehe. Makes sense? Ako nga eh di ko parin ma-classify kung paano ba 'ko magsalita o makipag-usap sa ibang tao. My English is not that bad I think, and the good thing is I am more than willing to improve. Thanks to the DebSoc (Naks! LOL.) who has taught me to be or at least gave a little confidence in me when speaking in public. Ahuhu, maiyak pa. At bago pa mapunta kung saan-saan 'to, eh let's call it a day. Nasabi ko lang mga nasa isip ko sa araw na 'to. :)
**whooo talo BGK. :'( Better luck next conf. tsk.**
