Meeting RadioDriveBy

"What's RadioDriveBy, anyway? They don't even have a Wiki page."

I don't even know what to expect. Admittedly, I have never heard of half of the BRF bands line up and because of real-life commitments (also read as: day job) I was not able to check them all until a few days before the show itself.

Thanks to Caren's constant bugging and showing of adoration of the band that I decided to check them out. And heck yes, I liked them.

In the age of auto-tuned and electronic-driven kind of music, what's heightened up my curiosity is to discover whether they are one of "those" bands. Turned out, they were not. They were even more.

The band is composed of Trent Clark (vocals), Evan Yuen (bass), Dave Glosser, Adam Simons (guitars) and Austin Gavin on drums.  The lead vocal's voice is so powerful you just got to love to listen to him over and over. Their music is mostly upbeat and catchy you would just want to jam with them.

Meeting them is another thing.

I could not fathom how nice they truly are in person. I may not have met a lot of band dudes and performers in person but they were one of the nicest. They would genuinely answer your every questions (I actually grabbed the opportunity to ask them a lot to a point that it felt like an interview lol) and agrees to have the photos taken without any hesitation. It has dawned on me how much they treasure every support that they can get, and how like in every success story in the industry, they owe it to the fans: who would gladly get in early, wait in line just to get a glance of them and more.

They were the first foreign band to perform in the recent Bazooka Rocks fest and because of some security reasons, some of the people are still outside when they started their set. Luckily, we were able to enter the venue and went in running to the right side (Dave's side) five seconds before they sang the first one. I would have been so bummed to miss them but God is good and what a fun set that was. The crowd may not be all too familiar with all of their songs and the fanbase is not that huge "yet" but I'm pretty sure the crowd has enjoyed the performance, if them dancing up and down is not much of a proof then I don't even know.

We even have a video of us dancing to Go All Night. Them being too intimately good at the rendition of Sunday and Trent belting it out in the end has got to be one of the highlights of the show. Also, the amazing runs that he did at the cover of Bruno Mars' treasure. I'm pretty sure that has gained them a lot of "converts" among the fans.

Thank heavens there is Twitter and other social sites where they could interact and give the love back to the fans even now that they are already back home. (@AprilDeGuzman here)

I'm a "monogamous" type of person and once I vowed my support to someone or some band, it just gets stuck. And as for RadioDriveBy, they are too talented to be left out and with the right exposure, connections and projects, I believe God has planned something big in the future for them. Who knows, it may be next year or in a couple of years. All I know is that this support is for forever and I'll stay with them through thick and thin.

And if all else fail at the end of the day, they could always come back home to Manila.
